Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Many of the products we use every day are considered hazardous. They can be readily identified by certain signal words such as "danger," "warning," "caution," or "poisonous" found on their labels. These products can be harmful to humans, animals, and the environment if not disposed of properly. Weld County residents can dispose of these products for free at one of two facilities operated by the county.

Acceptable Containers and Weight Limit

The Weld County Household Hazardous Waste Program will not accept waste brought in containers larger than 5 gallons. All containers also must be intact and not leaking. Please do not bring your hazardous waste to us in plastic bags. We must be able to see all waste that is brought in, and we will not sort through bags or boxes to determine if your items are acceptable.

There is a 200-pound limit per drop off, per day of operation, per household. If you have more than 200 pounds, you will be asked to return on another regular day of operation to bring in the remainder.

The Household Hazardous Waste Program staff will have full discretion in making these decisions.
