February 13, 2025 7:30 a.m.

Meeting called to order: 7:32 AM by Chair, Nate Taverner
January Minutes: Discussion that web address for Jireh Project is incorrect; Change to .org instead of .net
Motion to accept the minutes as amended by Stacey C., second by Steve K. Motion carried.
DHS Update
- Saturday May 3rd recruitment event for families in the Latino community
- Lunch time – but TBD
- Information on foster care
- Swag bag
- Relationship building
- Reach out to Latino organizations throughout Weld County
- DHS May 3rd event in lieu of WFPC May event
- Foster proclamation May 5th @ 9:00 AM
- Kind Connect – Realities for children
- Non-profit Based in Larimer County
- Hold funds and donations that are dedicated to Weld County – Emergency and Care funds
- Automated system in place to connect need w/ community donors
- In need of volunteers/drivers to pick up items
- Pam helping with Kind Connect
- Children’s Fest – April 12th (United Way)
- Child Abuse Prevention proclamation April 2nd
Safe Families – Jildi Gentry
- Now in Weld County
- Church engagement – mobilizing churches to be the hands and feet to make the project happen
- Volunteer opportunities; drivers, people to help clean, do laundry – any kind of help to a parent or family is needed
- Working with Genesis Project of NoCo
Commissioner Update:
- Weld County is recognizing the need in Weld
- Upcoming proclamations
- Watching Federal funding/grants closely for DHS
- Project for Weld County Judicial Building – determining location
- Watching legislation to understand how the County will be affected
- Currently tracking 120 bills
County Commissioner Work Session Recap:
- Reported our direction from the past couple of years – Foster/Adoption
- Commissioners encouraged us to continue
- Attend/join Mayor Gates’ task force
- Possibility of amending the mission statement for WFPC or a Focus Statement instead of a new mission statement
- Reconnect with the commissioners later in the year Oct/Nov for our recap and gear up/direction for the upcoming year
Finally Home:
- Windsor – Timberline Church
- Equip foster, adoptive and kinship families to build homes where children can heal
- Trauma informed training
