Council Members in Attendance: Nate Taverner, Amber Cecil, Lauren Tipton, Roxy Tines, Stacey Casteel, Steve Osborn, Roy Lantzy

Council Members Absent: John Rotharmel, Pamela Sommer, Steve Karcher, Dave Shumpert

DHS Representatives: Kristy DeAnda

Weld County Commissioner: Lynette Peppler

Guests: Jildi Gentry

Call to order – 7:30 AM – Nate Taverner

April Minutes – Stacey C motioned to approve, 2nd by Steve O; Motion passed  

Commissioner update:

  • Covering state legislation – do we fight it, do we stand with it?
  • Trying to give Weld County a voice
  • Lots of DHS proclamations – a lot of great things happening
  • Watching grant funding closely
  • Judicial Center – Still in process/discussion

DHS update:

  • May Latino family recruitment – 28 families in attendance
  • Superheroes event – reunification – 6/18 at LINC Library from 4-5:30 PM
  • Parents night out – City Lights – 8/9 for Larimer and Weld Counties – Foster/kinship/adoption
  • Kids at Heart – respite event 11/1
  • Beef and Bean Day in Milliken – With Love Thy Neighbor Church – 8/9
  • Milliken making steps toward becoming foster friendly
  • Foster family BBQ 6/14 – Family Fun Plex

Council Member Updates:

Nate

  • No longer with Baessler
  • Started new position at United Way

Steve

  • Family took in 18-year-old with special needs – celebrating graduation
  • setting up wrap around program at church
  • Operation Foster Hope – Lost and found items being utilized

Amber

  • DCA events have set dates – Banquet and Concert to raise money for scholarships
  • Annual Lookers and Lemons car show 8/9 – proceeds benefit Toys for Tots and Realities for Children – two charities this year in memory of Bill Cecil

Roxy (and Jildi)

  • Need boots on the ground volunteers in Weld County
  • Helping a family flourish/wrapping around – Baby shower for pregnant mother this weekend
  • Baessler stepped in to help with new carpet, they received paint, furnishings and support system
  • Upcoming Run 6/20 – Currently have 50 runners, free concert for the event/community
  • Weld County – partnered with multiple churches and Genesis project in the Fall
  • Salt, Journey, Vineyard, Lighthouse, Foundations Windsor, Timberline Windsor, Life bridge – Longmont

Lauren

  • Still looking to set up blood drives
  • Blood drive at Lauren’s house 7/19
  • Baessler helped to set up a run for Envision

Sandy

  • 1st annual legislative wrap up with statewide candidates – 6/26 @ Rez Church
