Island Grove Regional Park, which was once a major campground used by the Ute and Arapaho Indians as they followed game across the plains, is one of the oldest parks in the state of Colorado. In the late 1860s, Nathaniel Meeker designated the area as one of two parks in the town he founded, Union Colony (present day Greeley).
Today, the tradition of using this area as a gathering place continues as several large-scale events are held here annually including the Weld County Fair, the Greeley Stampede and the Greeley Blues Jam.
The park is owned and managed by Weld County and the City of Greeley.
Island Grove offers public parking, a picnic shelter, a splash pad, and features Centennial Village.
Buildings include the Community Building, Exhibition Building, 4-H Building, Farm Equipment Building, Outrider Building, the Bunkhouse, and rodeo arena.
