Weld Faith Partnership Council Minutes
April 10, 2025 7:30 a.m.
Baessler Homes
Council Members in Attendance: Nate Taverner, Sandy Figueroa, Stacey Casteel, John Rotharmel, Dave Shumpert, Amber Cecil, Steve Osborn, Lauren Tipton, Pamela Sommer (by phone), Kristy DeAnda (DHS), County Commissioner Peppler, and guest Jildi Gentry.
Council Members Absent: Steven Karcher, Roxene Tines, Roy Lantzy
Meeting Called to Order: Chair, Nate Taverner called the meeting to order at 7:35 AM
March Minutes: Stacey motioned to approve the March minutes as presented, second by Dave Shumpert; motion carried.
Commissioner Update: Lynette Peppler
- More than 50 foster contracts continuing
- Judicial center – downtown vs. O Street – additional costs with moving as O street is undeveloped
- Community meeting in Galeton about well explosion – only a small evacuation area
- Continuing to watch legislation and grant funding
DHS: Kristy DeAnda
- Donations can be made to Realities for Children – designate for May 3rd
- Need volunteers for set-up/decorating, crafts etc.
- Share the event – should be shared on FB from Weld County
- Share the event flyers
- Proclamation – May 5th – 9:00 AM (about a half hour)
- Weld foster family chosen by the state to be recognized
- Foster friendly lunch and learn May 13th – Zoe’s – 12-1
- We are encouraging everyone to come on the 3rd and the 5th and will not be having a regular meeting in May.
Meeting space/church options:
- Dave’s place, WFB, Lighthouse as options for meeting space
- June meeting – 18509 CR 86, Ault – X2D
Council member updates:
Steve Osborn
- Foster friendly wrap around new family taking in an 18-year-old special needs child
- Footsteps for Families 5K, previously called “Laps of Love”
- In Windsor at the park – Phil Stacey and his daughter will have a concert in the park
- Looking for swag, sponsorships
- June 20th Run and concert
- Non-profit tables
- Goal 200
- Additional info will be sent to the council
Sandy - Suggested Kona ice for 5K event
Lauren
- Donate for life Vitalant – blood drive – book event
- Looking for June-Aug bookings
- May – Donate for mothers
- Stampede blood drive – NCMC
John
- July 20th – La Salle Days – Block party
- Remedy available for events – Christian hard rock band
Dave
- Feed the need – giving beef/meat to families/people in need – Let Dave know if there is someone who needs a little help
- 3-day rodeo event – Double check arena – Youth night and kids ran devotionals and worship
- Church service at CSU rodeo
- Welding – class is half full – Starts First Friday in June
- Friday nights between Kersey and Hudson
- HS/first year college – both men and women
- Dave to get info for Kristy
- Rodeo Bible camp – almost full after Greeley Stampede
- Mechanics program – Truck donated – younger kids welcome
- Farm days – church service
- Women’s extreme rodeo - church service
Amber
- Dayspring will host a Fall banquet and a Spring concert going forward
- All money will go to scholarships for students to attend DCA
Nate
- Commissioner James asked that we (the faith community) look at the homelessness issue in Weld County
- Nate will be attending the Mayor’s meeting today.
- Looking into affordable housing issues/municipality problems
- Nate to give an update about the meeting to the team at the next meeting
