February 13, 2025 7:30 a.m.

Council Members Present: Nate Taverner, Sandy Figueroa, Stacey Casteel, Roxene Tines, Dave Shumpert, Roy Lantzy, John Rotharmel

DHS: Kristy DeAnda, John Killen

County Commissioner: Lynette Peppler

Guests: Margie Martinez, Major Stephen Kintzley, Cynthia Kintzley, Lori Saine

Council Members Absent: Absent: Pamela Sommer, Steve Osborn, Steven Karcher, Lauren Tipton, Tim Martinez

Call to order: 7:30 AM

Opening Prayer: Dave Shumpert

Approve January Minutes: Dave S. motioned to approve, second by Stacey C – Motion passed

Approve February Minutes: Stacey C. motioned to approve, second by Roxene T. – Motion passed

DHS:

  • May 3rd Event (Cinco De Mayo) Hispanic outreach – will be a lunch event
  • Info/invite will be sent out
  • Reach out to Kristy if you can help
  • Anything for swag bags – have to Kristy by 4/29
  • May 5th - proclamation 9:00 AM – County admin building board room
  • Official invitation coming soon
  • John will provide cotton candy and popcorn machines
  • April 2nd proclamation for child abuse prevention – county admin building board room 9:00 AM – Reminder will be sent out for this as it is before our next meeting

Commissioner Update:

  • Judicial building – downtown vs. O Street
  • Reviewing bills/legislation affecting Weld County

Council Member Updates:

Roy – Jireh Project

  • Coats/boots – clothing closet – 600 boots/hats
  • Donations always accepted

Roxy – Safe Families for Children

  • At John’s church last weekend
  • Met with Genesis project for partnership opportunities
  • Has coach assigned for new family
  • 2 new church partnerships

Sandy Figueroa – Found a foster friendly business in Windsor! (Add in CBB website)

Dave – X2D Ministries

  • Feed the Need beef program – Beef donated – distributed to 2 families & Filled freezer
  • Received donations at a beef sale
  • Welding program – Items have been donated for the program
  • Contact Dave for info or nominees for the program and donations
  • Severance HS can assist with additional equipment as needed/location

Amber:

  • Update from Dayspring concert
  • DCA Banquet in the Fall, concert will be added as a separate event (hosting only)
  • Genesis Project Spring Recognition Event

John:

  • Remedy (rock band) gaining momentum
  • Dunk tank, bounce houses available for events – Contact John

8:00 AM– Business meeting adjourned and move to award presentation

8:01 AM – Award Presentation

Awards presented to:

  • Margie Martinez
  • Major Stephen and Cynthia Kintzley
  • Lori Saine
  • Theresa McClatchey unavailable to attend – award will be given to her at a later date
  • Cynthia Kintzley to come back in the fall to present to the council on Toys for Tots
