Weld Faith Partnership Council Minutes

October 10, 2024  7:30 a.m.

Council Members in Attendance: Rob Thomas, Nate Taverner, Margie Martinez, Lyn Tausan, Pamela Sommer, Dave Shumpert, Amber Cecil,  Roy Lantzy, Stacey Casteel, Roxene Tines, Lauren Tipton, Steve Osborn

DHS: Kristi DeAnda

Council Members Absent: Tim Martinez, Commissioner Saine, Steven Karcher, John Rotharmel

Meeting Called to order: 7:39 AM

Opening Prayer: Rob Thomas

September Minutes: Stacey C. motioned to approve, Margie M. seconded; motion carried

DHS Update:

December 4th and 5th

  • Games
  • Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there
  • Gifts for the kids
  • 300-350 people

Volunteers needed

  • Donate desserts (make or donate funds)
  • Contact Kristi – She will get info to the volunteer coordinator

Foster friendly: Carbon Valley, Christ Community, City Lights, Frontier, Love they neighbor and Timberline Windsor

  • Virtual meeting
  • CKB reaching out to those churches – what is working, what is not, next steps, etc.
  • Pamela S. – trained to help with Kind Connect
  • November – National adoption month
  • November 23rd – National adoption day
  • Weld County Adoption Day – November 22nd – around 12 adoptions to happen
  • Youth for Christ – Feb 8th – Parent night out event/Respite event

Council going forward:

  • One standing location for our meetings
  • Baessler for the remainder of 2024
  • New location in central county for 2025 – LaSalle area
  • Amber will make contact with area churches for commitment to host

Newsletter:

  • Switch to different platform?
  • Concentrate on list – Do folks want to be on it
  • Look at pushing to churches
  • Scrub list
  • Target audience
  • Rob and Commissioner Saine to meet
  • Nate T – Volunteer writer for November

Newsletter subcommittee for 2025?

  • Lyn T., Roy L. and Amber C. volunteered
  • Send out a request for information on events/activities by board secretary to council members
  • Put in an ask for church congregations to get involved
  • Limit word counts for articles 250 words or less
  • Content due by 21st of prior month

Legends of Service Award:

Nomination form to be completed and submitted by person making the nomination. Include form in the newsletter for next month. Deadline for nominations: December 1st
