Council Members in Attendance: Dave Shumpert, Amber Cecil, Stacey Casteel, Roxy Tines, Sandy Figueroa, Roy Lantzy, Pam Sommer, Lauren Tipton

Council Members Absent: John Rotharmel, Nate Taverner, Steve Karcher, Steve Osborn,

DHS: Kristy DeAnda, John Killen

Weld County Commissioner: Unavailable for meeting

Call to order – 7:48 – Stacey Casteel

Opening Prayer – Amber Cecil

August Minutes – Confirmation of quorum by Amber Cecil – Dave S. motioned to accept minutes as presented. Second by Roy L.; Motion passed

DHS Update:

(John)

  • Adoption Day in November (tentatively22nd)
  • Proclamation by county on 11/2

(Kristy)

  • Planning meeting for Christmas parties
  • Party dates are 12/3 (Foster) & 12/4 (Kinship)
  • Let Kristy know if you are interested in volunteering
  • 11/8 Respite at Timberline Windsor along with Kids at Heart
  • Outreach to Weld County

Council Member Updates:

Sandy

  • Petition drives – 3 petitions currently circulating

Roxy

  • Family first funding at the national level
  • Local counties to advocate for Safe Families
  • Weld is growing – up to 5 churches
  • Gala moved to February
  • Mom that was shared about by Jildi – both babies born healthy – safe families still wrapping around the family
  • Spanish speaking churches – Volunteer working for outreach
  • Always looking for funding

Pam

  • Coats & Boots – Shiel’s ready and delivery the first week of Oct
  • Hands to help sort & group – approx. 5 people

Lauren

  • Need blood donations
  • Delivered blood to assist with tragedy
  • Blood drives for Nov and Dec

Roy

26th Oct – Praise in the Park – Farr Park in Greeley


Dave

  • Feed the need is a big focus – Four 900 lb. steers donated – Will be harvested in February
  • 10-year-old girl – Donated hog to the cause – Hog did not make weight for her needs – Next year she’s going to buy 5 and donate 2
  • Seeing more families participate with donations – donations to help vehicles, deliver meat, groceries, money donated to purchase beef
  • 15-20 calves on the ground next spring
  • Welding supplies donated – tables and gear
  • Severance HS approved to come in for the Winter

Amber

  • Upcoming DCA Events; Banquet 10/24 with Comedian Rik Roberts, Concert early Spring
  • Two upcoming events – Coffee, cocoa & chrome – Toy collection/drop off for Toys for Tots of Larimer and Weld – Dates TBD
  • Possibility of Cars and Christ event – working name – Date TBD
