Position: Weld County Extension – 4-H Livestock Intern
Location: Weld County Extension Office, Greeley, Colorado
Date needed: May 15 – August 15, can be somewhat flexible with starting and ending dates.
Hours/Week: 40 – may be some night and weekend responsibilities. (Note: it is expected that the number of hours during Weld County Fair (July 18th-27th) will significantly exceed 40.)
Salary: $14.42 per hour
Transportation: Intern will provide own transportation; mileage provided when traveling on Extension business away from the office.
Job Description: Provide support to Weld 4-H Youth/ Livestock Agent and volunteers in 4-H livestock programs. Help with planning and presentation of various events and activities (i.e. MQA, Livestock Interviews, carcass contest, etc.). Help with livestock shows at the Weld County Fair. There will be some opportunities to work with other agents in the office in their program areas.
Additional Qualifications: If a previous member of Weld County 4-H, needs to be out of 4-H a minimum of 1 year before applying.
Skills needed: Must be a self-starter, able to work on his/her own after training and direction. Demonstrate the ability to work with youth and volunteers. Be a team player who is able to work with Extension professionals and support staff. Needs to be proficient in Microsoft Office. Have good oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and experience with 4-H or other youth organizations is desirable.
