Food Safety, Food Preservation and Food Preparation Classes and Events

Throughout the year, Weld County Extension will be offering a variety of classes and workshops to promote food safety and culinary knowledge through lectures and hands on experience. Class topics will include food preservation methods such as canning, dehydrating, pickling and fermenting and more! 


Drying/Freezing Produce, June 10, 2025

Join our class on drying and freezing produce and learn how to preserve the freshness of fruits and vegetables year-round! Discover the best methods for dehydrating and freezing to retain flavor, nutrients, and texture. Whether you're looking to store your garden harvest or save on groceries, this class will provide you with all the tips and techniques you need to maximize your produce preservation.

The Science of Sourdough Fermentation & Hands-On Workshop In-Person, Thursday, June 19, 2025

Discover the fascinating science behind sourdough fermentation in this interactive workshop! Attendees will then get hands-on experience creating their own sourdough starter to take home, with tips on how to nurture and maintain it for future baking. A Matter of Balance - Every Thursday from August 28 - October 16, 2025

This eight-week class is designed to reduce the fear of falling, stop the fear of falling cycle, and increase activity levels.  The program focuses on practical coping strategies using a variety of activities that address physical, social, and cognitive factors affecting the fear of falling.  Exertion level: 2.  This program is a partnership with Weld County Area Agency on Aging and CSU Weld County Extension.
