Rules and Health Requirements

General Rules of the Shows:

1. All registration is done using showman.app
2. All Extravaganza events and programs are open to youth and adults, except the Jackpot shows, which are youth events.
3. Only Does and Wethers are eligible to be shown in the Showmanship and Jackpot Shows.
4. It is strongly recommended that all Jackpot Market goats be dehorned.
5. Animals are not required to be clipped. Clipping is allowed in designated areas only.
6. Water must be available to goats in their pens at all times.
7. Meshed or plastic muzzles may be used so long as they allow the animal to open their mouth and drink water.
8. For security purposes, buildings will be locked ½ hour after shows finish on Friday and Saturday nights. They will be open the following morning at 6:30 a.m.
9. Weld County Goat Extravaganza is not responsible for any losses or accidents.
10. Registration deadline is April 14, 2023. Late entries will be accepted with a late fee.
11. Stalling – 6’ x 6’ pens are available to stall your animals. Initial bedding is not provided. Shavings and straw concessions provided. Exhibitors with smaller goats (especially young Pygmy goats and Nigerian Dwarfs) need to provide interior fencing or crates to keep goats from escaping pens.
12. No reserving pens in the Livestock Barn (Boer and Pygmy Goats), all pens are first come-first serve!
13. No alcohol in the Livestock Barn, Exhibition Building and 4-H Building at any time. 
14. No use of blowers allowed during the Showmanship Clinic, Saturday (9:00 – 10:00 a.m.) or until finished.

Health Requirements:

1. No animals will be allowed on the fairgrounds exhibiting symptoms of infectious, contagious, or communicable diseases such as but not limited to: external abscesses, ringworm, pinkeye, and soremouth. Goats must be castrated or banded at the time of the vet check. It is recommended that goats be deloused two weeks prior to Weld County Goat Extravaganza.
2. Health requirements for out-of-state exhibitors: Colorado law requires all out of state goats be accompanied by a valid health certificate. Health certificates will be examined at time of check in.  Must be issued by your veterinarian within 30 days of the WCGE show.
3. SCRAPIE: The USDA’s Scrapie Eradication Program will be enforced at the Weld County Goat Extravaganza. All breeding goats; wethers 18 months & over; and all does shown as market goats must have scrapie ear tags. Exception: registered goats may use tattoos or microchips with breed registration numbers in place of scrapie ear tags.  Registration papers must be provided for verification in the barn.
4. Vet checks will not occur this year at the 2023 WCGE.
5. WCGE committee members reserve the right to request any animal to leave the premises of the WCGE if they feel an animal is unhealthy and does not meet the standards of the show as mentioned above in #1.  If that happens, no refund will be given.
