Military and Overseas Voters

Colorado citizens who are either temporarily or permanently overseas and all active military personnel, including their spouses and dependents, are eligible to vote by absentee ballot under The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens and Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) and Colorado law.

This includes:

• A member of a uniformed service of the United States who is a resident of this state but who is absent from the state by reason of active duty;
• A member of the merchant marine of the United States who is a resident of this state but who is absent from the state by reason of service in the merchant marine;
• A member of the Colorado National Guard who is a resident of this state, but who is absent from the state by reason of active duty; or
• A spouse or dependent of a person described above, who is a resident of this state but who is absent from the state by reason of the active duty or service of that person.
• Temporarily Overseas: A Resident Overseas Elector is a resident of Colorado who is living temporarily outside the United States.
• Permanently Overseas: A Nonresident Overseas Elector is defined as a citizen of the United States who resides permanently outside the United States and who was a resident of Colorado immediately prior to leaving the United States. A Nonresident Overseas Elector is eligible to vote for federal races only.
