Medical providers play a crucial role in identifying children with elevated blood lead levels. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires all children enrolled in Medicaid to get tested for lead at ages 12 and 24 months, or age 24–72 months if they have never been screened. It is recommended that all other children be screening for risk and tested if parents answer yes to any risk questions.
