Please join us on October 7 for our 2nd annual State of the County event and learn how local government is working to lead with responsive, innovative, and cost-effective services for county residents.
Property owners, property management or maintenance companies, and contractors of any type must be aware of laws related to lead in homes built before 1978 (when lead-based paint was banned for residential use).
Lead abatement means the permanent removal of a lead hazard. Projects completed for the purpose of updating, maintaining, repairing, or improving efficiency or aesthetics may fall under renovation and not require abatement permitting.
Lead-based paint activities, including inspections and abatement work, must be completed by a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) certified contractor. Renovations in properties built before 1978 must be completed by an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Certified contractor.
