Youth and Young Adults

Life can get tough and it makes sense to look for a “quick fix” to help navigate the stresses youth and young adulthood can bring, however, nicotine and tobacco use, especially before the age of 25, can have serious negative consequences leading to worse anxiety, depression, and overall health. The brain continues to develop until about age 25, and using nicotine during this critical period can disrupt attention, learning, mood regulation, and impulse control. Early use also increases the likelihood of developing nicotine dependance, and continuing tobacco use into adulthood.

WCTEPP aims to provide reliable information, education, and resources to help youth and young adults make informed decisions about smoking, vaping and other nicotine products. Whether you’re looking for prevention tools, support to quit, or ways to help a friend, there are resources available to support healthier choices and a nicotine-free future.

Need reliable information on tobacco and nicotine products?

Contrary to popular belief, most teens do not vape or use tobacco or nicotine. Social media and marketing can make nicotine use seem more common than it really is. If you’re a young person who doesn’t vape, smoke, or use nicotine products, you are absolutely normal.

And if you do use tobacco or nicotine, you’re not alone! Support is available. Over half of youth who use nicotine products want to quit.

Regardless of your experience, one of our goals at WCTEPP is to provide education, support, and access to cessation resources for youth in Weld County. For more information on cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and oral nicotine pouches like Zyn or On!, explore the resources below:
