The vaccine survey was developed in partnership with the Northern Colorado Health Care Coalition and will gather information about how many staff and residents will require the vaccine, vaccine storage (freezers and refrigerators), PPE needs, and what other kinds of assistance providers may require with administering the vaccine. Results of the survey will help the Health Department to better align with State of Colorado’s phased vaccine implementation plan. The phased vaccine distribution plan (Phase 1) includes first vaccinating high-risk frontline health care workers, followed by moderate-risk healthcare workers and first responders; Phase 2 includes adults over 65 and adults with underlying health issues. The final phase (Phase 3) includes the general public and will likely occur in summer 2021.
The Health Department continues with these other preparedness and response actions:
- Collaborating with the State Health Department Lab and other private labs to ensure availability of COVID-19 testing for all individuals who would like to be tested. A new drive thru rapid testing location is available in Southwest Weld County. This is offered at no charge to the public. Pre-registration is encouraged to reduce wait times.
- Continuing to reach out to COVID-19 cases and any reported close contacts enrolled into contact monitoring to provide accurate information about isolation or quarantine.
Public health officials also continue to remind the public to continue to practice social distancing, avoid large gatherings, wash hands frequently, and wear face coverings.
More information about the distribution phases can be found on the State of Colorado's COVID-19 vaccine webpage.
