Health Department seeks to complete COVID-19 vaccinations for high-risk frontline health care workers

Weld County — The Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment has been actively vaccinating high-risk frontline health care workers and first responders (those individuals in Phase 1, 1A, and 1B of the State of Colorado’s Vaccine Distribution Plan). As of today, the Health Department has administered over 1,100 vaccinations for COVID-19. The Health Department’s partners, such as Banner Health, UCHealth, Salud Clinics, Sunrise Community Health, Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth (SCL), and others, continue to register and vaccinate County residents who are 70+ years of age.

“We really want to complete vaccinating our high-risk frontline workers and first responders as soon as possible,” said Mark Lawley, Executive Director of the Weld County Health Department. “Once we finish the Phase 1 high-risk priority group, we can then begin vaccinating or coordinate the vaccine distribution with the revised Phase 1 group.” The revised Phase 1 now includes Coloradans aged 65-69, teachers, and frontline essential workers. Public health officials are requesting any high-risk frontline health care workers and first responders who have not yet received their COVID-19 vaccine to contact the Health Department as soon as possible to receive their vaccination.

The State of Colorado’s Vaccine Distribution Plan includes three phases. Phase 1 is currently ongoing and was revised to include Coloradans ages 65-69, Coloradans ages 16-64 with two or more chronic health conditions, pre-K-12 educators and child care workers, and frontline essential workers. Phase 2 includes higher-risk individuals; and Phase 3 is for the general public and will likely occur in the spring and summer.
