FAQs

The Mobile Health Unit is an exciting new venture. A list of frequently asked questions is below. If you don't find the question and/or answer you're looking for, please reach out to mobilehealthunit@weld.gov.

What areas of will be served?

The Weld County Public Health Mobile Unit is designed to serve all areas of Weld County, with a special focus on reaching rural communities, underserved neighborhoods, and populations with limited access to health care.

Our team works directly with local partners—such as schools, housing organizations, food pantries, community events, and faith-based groups—to schedule visits where services are needed most. While priority is given to areas with known health disparities or gaps in access, any organization or group within Weld County can request a visit from the Mobile Unit.

We are committed to bringing care closer—whether that means traveling to the plains in Eastern Weld, smaller towns in Southern Weld, or underserved areas within larger cities like Greeley or Evans.

Does it cost money to use the mobile unit services?

No. Services provided by the Weld County Public Health Mobile Unit are available at no cost to individuals. You will never be denied care because you can’t pay or don’t have insurance.

If you do have health insurance, including Medicaid, CHP+, or private coverage, we encourage you to share that information with our staff. While insurance is not required, using it—when available—helps us:

  • Maintain fiscal sustainability,
  • Offset the cost of care, and
  • Continue providing free services to those without insurance.

By providing your insurance, you're helping us extend care to more people across Weld County—especially in communities with limited access to health services.

What to bring to a visit to the mobile unit?

For most services, you do not need to bring anything—just yourself. Services are designed to be accessible, with minimal barriers.

If you have any of the following, it can help us serve you more efficiently:

  • Photo ID (if available)
  • Health insurance card (if you have one)
  • List of medications or allergies (optional but helpful)

If you're bringing a child for a blood lead level test, no special preparation is needed. A simple finger stick will be used to screen for lead exposure.

Please note: We do not offer testing of household or personal items for lead. The Mobile Unit only provides blood lead testing for children and adults.

If you’re unsure what to bring, feel free to contact our team ahead of time at mobilehealthunit@weld.gov

How do I request a sign language or spoken language interpreter?

Language assistance services for individuals may be provided upon request. Please notify us in your request for the Mobile Health Unit or contact mobilehealthunit@weld.gov.on your expected language assistance needs. We ask you notify us of any changes at least one week prior to the site visit to make arrangements.

How do I cancel or reschedule my event?

Please contact mobilehealthunit@weld.gov as soon as possible.

Will the health department ever need to cancel? What should I expect?

Cancellations are rare, but possible for extreme circumstances such as inclement weather, staffing shortages, or unforeseen mechanical issues. We will always strive to provide services, even if the Mobile Health Unit is unavailable. During the planning process for your event, we will discuss back-up plans as needed. Our priority will always be to communicate with you as efficiently and as quickly as possible.
