“I got the opportunity to volunteer at the Greeley Pride event helping with STI testing from the mobile unit. Not only was the unit super nice, but all of the workers were as well. Seeing them interact with the community and the impact that they have was an amazing experience. If I ever get the opportunity again, it is a great place to volunteer and be a part of the community, and I would love to be a part of that again.”

“I had an amazing time volunteering! I think the idea of free STI testing is so impactful for the community and especially to those who may not have access to testing. I love what this represents and I would love to volunteer more in the future :)”

“It is so important that resources such as this one are provided to the community free of charge. I am overjoyed that I was able to volunteer at the Pride test today & help to give free STI testing. I think having a mobile unit offering these services helps to encourage safe practices, in a safer space, for minorities. I’m glad I could help to make an impact!”

“Spending time on the mobile unit has been so valuable to me. I am so impressed with the outpouring of love and positivity from the entire mobile unit team. It really warms my heart to reach the community in such a meaningful way. Everyone is welcome in the mobile health unit, and met with a smile. It is truly so special to be part of this experience!”

As an intern with Greeley-Weld County Public Health’s Mobile Unit program, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand the positive impact this program has on our community- not just Greeley but all around small communities in CO. Through outreach events and direct services, we have helped individuals and families access important resources they may not otherwise receive or qualify for.
One of the most rewarding parts of this experience has been connecting with people in need and knowing that our work makes a difference in their lives. The Mobile Unit helps remove barriers by bringing services directly to the community, ensuring that everyone has access to support, information, and care.
This internship has allowed me to learn new skills, meet incredible people, and gain a deeper understanding of not only public health but of seeing the world in a different perspective. Seeing the gratitude from community members and witnessing the impact of our efforts has been both inspiring and fulfilling. I am proud to be part of a program that is dedicated to improving lives and strengthening our community.

Working with the Weld Public Health Mobile Unit for our first NHP Community Health Day was an incredible experience. The entire process was seamless, and the Weld Public Health team made it easy from planning through the day of the event. Their staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and truly committed to serving our community.
The Mobile Unit was one of the biggest highlights of the event. There was a line for services throughout the day, and many attendees came specifically because the Mobile Unit was there. Community members were excited not only to receive services, but also to have the opportunity to ask questions and connect directly with the Public Health staff.
One story from the day perfectly captures the impact of having these services available. A man in his twenties who had been at Lincoln Park was encouraged by NHP staff to stop by the event. Once there, he shared that he was from Weld County and wanted to call his mom for the first time in a long time. After making that call, his mother came to the event. She was overwhelmed with gratitude, sharing that she had been waiting for the day her son would ask for help and want to come home.
Because the Mobile Unit and other community partners were all in one place, he was immediately connected with resources, including Public Health services, the Department of Human Services, Medicaid Care Coordination through NHP, a fresh haircut, and a meal. His mom thanked our teams multiple times, saying this gave her son the opportunity to begin a new chapter with support already in place.
That moment reminded all of us why partnerships like this matter. We are incredibly grateful to have community partners like Weld Public Health who are genuinely invested in improving the health and well-being of our community. Their commitment, compassion, and willingness to meet people where they are made a lasting impact, and we look forward to continuing this partnership for years to come.
