    • Q:  Member Karcher – What is the definition of an “older worker”?
      • A:   Guest Crackel – 50+ but no set definition.
    • Q:  Member Haffner – Does the Workforce Center help individual register on Connecting Colorado?
      • A:   Guest Crackel – Yes.
    • Q:  Member Karcher – Is there assistance for individuals with felony convictions?
      • A:   Guest Crackel – There is a specific workshop for individuals with that specific background.
    • Q:  Member Vasquez – Do older adults have more difficulty with getting a job because of their age?
      • A:   Guest Crackel – There should not be any discrimination, but there is.  There are ways to move forward in the application process without divulging age.
    • Q:  Member Vasquez – Are the same services provided in other counties or does each county provide different services?
      • A:   Guest Crackel – Most are the same but may differ slightly.
    • Q:  Member Smock – How are the services funded?
      • A:   Deputy Director Grant – Federal and State funds with a small amount of County funds.
    • Q:  Member Karcher – What services are available to someone that has been subject to discrimination?
      • A:   Guest Crackel – They can speak to someone in the Resource Room and file a complaint.  If it’s related to employment law, we can assist them with logging into the complaint system and helping with paperwork.  If we can’t resolve it, will send it up to the state.
    • Q:  Member Schunter – Is Connecting Colorado a secure site by not sharing public information?
      • A:   Deputy Director Grant – The information is never sold or shared.  Employers can create accounts and look at potential employees.
  4. Committee Reports
    • Nutrition:
      • Member Schunter – Summer evening meals in Platteville will begin on June 2nd with a suggested donation of $5.00 a meal.  
      • Staff Member Skoglund – Currently seeking to fill the vacant position of Registered Dietitian.
    • ADRC (Aging, Disability & Resource Center):
      • Member Leitel – Met on April 28th. Sophie O’Neal from Assistance Payments presented on Estate Recovery.  Information to be sent to the Board.
      • Staff Member Skoglund – Will schedule the presentation at a future Board meeting.
    • Fraud Updates:
      • Staff Member Roper – Nothing new to report.
    • Legislative & CCA: 
      • Division Director Morrison – Will forward any new information to the Board.
    • 50+ Art Show:
      • Member Haffner – No meeting last month.   Currently on schedule.  Applications are due back from artists by August 16th.
    • Beyond 60:
      • Staff Member Skoglund – Articles, recipes, etc. around 350 words are always needed.
    • Monitoring, Oversight, Request for Proposal
      • Division Director Morrison – No feedback yet on audit.
  5. Board Participation Reports:
    • Member Broderius – Acts of Connections has slowed down due to other obligations.  Aware of 2 church members that will be taking the Acts of Connections training. 
    • Chair Kress – Conducting several classes at the Windsor Recreation Center.
  6. General Agency Updates:                  
    • Staff Member Skoglund – Please join us on June 15th at 11:15am for the Elder Awareness Walk starting in front of Building A.
    • Staff Member Skoglund – Weld County has a low rate of social isolation and the State Unit on Aging has requested both Meredith Skoglund and Donnica Fagan to participate in a panel at the WEAAD event at the DU Campus on June 15th.  Meredith and Donnica will discuss the multitude of supportive services and program offered to those in Weld County, focusing on the Friendly Fork Program.
    • Division Director Morrison – Working on 2027 fiscal budget as well as contracts for core providers. 
    • Commissioner Buck – Thank you to the Workforce Development team for helping individuals through the process of getting back into the workforce.
