If you missed the April online weather spotter training class, you now have a second chance to learn about hailstorms, tornadoes, and other types of severe weather common in Weld County. The National Weather Service (NWS) is hosting a second virtual weather spotter training class on Thursday, May 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The class is free, but registration is required.
Information presented will focus on the urban corridor region which includes the Interstate 25 corridor, Weld County and eastern portions of Adams and Arapahoe Counties. The class will also cover the different types of weather commonly seen in Colorado’s northeast plains.
Beyond learning about how to identify severe weather quickly and keep themselves and family members safe, participants can also become certified weather spotters upon conclusion of the course. Certified weather spotters regularly assist the NWS in providing information meteorologists can use to provide timely warnings to the public during severe weather.
This class will not be available for later viewing, so don’t miss out. Register at https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/2300416232740436491, or by calling the Weld County Office of Emergency Management at (970) 304-6540.
