Weld County Energy Line

The outline of pump jacks, solar panels and windmills. Text reads: Weld County Oil and Gas Energy Dept. Energy Line

Following Weld County’s adoption of 1041 Authority in June of 2019, the Oil and Gas Energy Department (OGED) officially opened in August of that year. The OGED is responsible for permitting, regulating and enforcing surface regulations related to oil and gas operations for drilling sites located in unincorporated Weld County. At the same time, the OGED strives to be a resource for residents throughout the county who have questions or need more information about oil and gas production in Weld County.

To add to the OGED’s capability to be a resource to the community, the Weld County Energy Line will highlight the department and the broader impact of oil and gas to Weld County through informative features in every issue touching on a variety of topics, including, but not limited to:

  • The positive relationship between agriculture and oil and gas.
  • The history of oil and gas development in Weld County and why it’s so important?
  • Why/how the oil and gas industry is so critical to Weld County Government’s annual budget.
  • The county’s stance on legislation or participation in events that are important to the industry (legislative session, energy symposium, etc.)
  • Efficiencies in the industry or within the OGED.

The topics in this newsletter aim to introduce readers to different perspectives surrounding the energy industry and to further highlight its importance to Weld County and the state.
