Foster Care Orientation Feb. 4, March 11

Becoming a foster parent can be a life-changing experience, so it’s normal to have a lot of questions. Weld County offers online and in-person orientations to help you navigate the process. Visit weld.gov/go/FosterCare to register for an upcoming orientation — virtual on Feb. 4 or at the Human Services building on March 11.

Flush and Flow Program

Do you own a home or business in Evans or Erie? The Weld County Youth Conservation Corps want to help you save water and money! Visit wcycc.org to learn about upgrading to high-efficiency fixtures for free with the Flush and Flow Program.

Weld County Youth Conservation Corps (WCYCC) is recruiting

The WCYCC is actively recruiting for the 2026 season. If you are or know a 17- to 30-year-old interested in serving the community through hands-on projects, like operating a chainsaw to combat invasive tree species, learn more at wcycc.org.

High Plains Boulevard updates

Work continues on High Plains Boulevard. The project is about 49% complete with roundabout construction to come in the spring of 2026. Read past issues of the newsletter and sign up to receive new issues.

Comprehensive Plan updates underway

The Weld County Comprehensive Plan survey is currently live! Weld County is updating its Comprehensive Plan to help guide how our communities grow and change over the next 20 years. The plan addresses land use across unincorporated Weld County. Community input is essential, and residents, business owners, and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the public survey. Learn more about the the plan and take the survey.

County Projects

American Heart Month

February is American Heart Month, and the Weld County Health Department has several programs to help improve heart health.

  • The WISEWOMAN program provides cardiovascular screenings, risk-reduction counseling, referrals, lifestyle programs, and other healthy behavior support options that improve hypertension and other cardiovascular disease risk factors.
  • The Weld County Diabetes Prevention Program, Heart of Weld, helps residents reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes — a key factor in heart disease — through lifestyle changes like healthy eating, physical activity, and stress management.
  • The Weld County Healthy Plate program provides hands-on education on cooking balanced, affordable meals that support heart health.

Cancer Prevention

February is Cancer Prevention Month, and early detection can make all the difference to your health.

  • The Weld County Women's Wellness Connection (WWC) offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings for eligible women.
  • The WWC program also provides support for scheduling and transportation to screenings to help detect cancer early when treatment is most effective.
