Assessor

The Weld County Assessor is an elected officer of the county. The Assessor serves a four-year term and is elected in the county general election by the voters; if re-elected, a person can serve in the role of County Assessor for up to three consecutive four-year terms. The constitutional duty of the County Assessor is to evaluate all property in the county for property tax purposes.

Jason Marini has called northern Colorado home for nearly 30 years and has lived in Weld County for the past 15. Jason attended Wabash College as an undergrad and finished his education at Colorado State University where he received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering.

While working on his education, Jason’s career began in banking and his interest in real estate led him to become a licensed appraiser in 2000. He eventually founded Marini Appraisal Services, joined the Weld County Assessor’s office in 2018 as Chief Deputy Assessor and was appointed to the Assessor role in 2026.

As a Certified General Appraiser Jason has extensive experience in property appraisal including agricultural, residential, multi-family, commercial, industrial, oil and gas, and pipeline property. He is a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers, Colorado Association of Tax Appraisers, and the Rocky Mountain Appraiser’s Association. Currently, Jason is serving as co-chair of the Colorado Assessor’s Association Oil and Gas committee.

Jason believes in giving back. He has served on school safety committees, coached youth athletics, mentored Lego Robotics teams, and supported local sports programs.

Family is important to Jason. He enjoys family dinners with his wife and four children, board games, logic puzzles, cheering on his kids at sporting events, and catching a good college football game with friends and neighbors.
