State Upgrades to DHS Systems Slated for Next Week

Next week, two of Weld County’s Department of Human Services (DHS) statewide eligibility systems will undergo necessary upgrades and modifications to better serve residents.

On Tuesday, September 4, residents applying for low-income child care assistance through the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) may experience delays as a new state system is implemented. The Child Care Automated Tracking System (CHATS), which helps determine eligibility for CCCAP, will receive an upgrade, and residents are asked to be patient. DHS will make every effort to ensure there are minimal to no eligibility interruptions due to this new rollout.

Then, on Friday, September 7 only, residents will be unable to receive eligibility determinations for food, medical or cash assistance due to a state upgrade of the Colorado Benefit Management System (CBMS). However, DHS staff will be available to answer general questions; accept applications, redeterminations, changes and other paperwork associated with these programs; and replace lost or stolen Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards at both Greeley and Fort Lupton office locations. DHS expects to resume operations as usual on Monday, September 10.

The statewide CBMS, a computer system that helps determine eligibility for food assistance, Health First (Medicaid), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and other cash assistance programs that aid the elderly and disabled, will be enhanced to improve both staff and client experience.
