Local Businesses, Young Adult Honored by Governor

Two local businesses and one young adult were nominated by Employment Services of Weld County to receive awards at the Governor’s Summer Job Hunt Awards Ceremony, which took place last month at the Governor’s Residence at the Boettcher Mansion.

Tim Rosales, owner of R Yard & Exteriors, received an employer award. Rosales was nominated for his dedication to mentoring the young people he employs. As a GED recipient and self-made business man, Rosales identifies with young people in difficult situations. For his employees, this means taking the time to help build their leadership skills and encourage them to succeed.

Reid Hobler, co-owner and practice manager of Milliken Animal Clinic, accepted an employer award on behalf of clinic staff. The clinic was nominated for employing four of the youngest workers, ages 14-15 years old, in the Weld Works 4 Youth program. Thanks to clinic staff, the employees were taught valuable skills such as professionalism, leadership and having a positive attitude in the workplace.

Yoana Rivera-Pineda, intern with Employment Services’ youth division, received a young adult award. Over the summer, Rivera-Pineda assisted young adults build resumes, practice interviewing skills and complete job applications. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in human services, which helps her excel in her position and provide excellent customer service.

The Governor’s Summer Job Hunt has connected young people ages 14 to 24 with work experience since 1981. Generations of Colorado workers—more than half a million—got their start through the program with employers who were willing to give young people a chance.
