The enhanced Weld County COVID-19 data dashboard, which was launched August 13, surpassed 12,000 page views in just over two weeks. That number builds on more than 149,000 views total since the data dashboard first launched April 16. “Keeping the public informed about COVID-19 in Weld County is instrumental when empowering individuals to exercise personal responsibility in making decisions that best protect themselves, their families and their businesses,” Weld County Commissioner Chair Mike Freeman said. “The detailed information in the new dashboard allows residents to get a clear view of the virus’ impact in Weld County. We’re happy that many people are exploring its new features.” While the original dashboard provided case counts, cases by zip code and health region, the update provides greater detail to other important statistics including two-week positivity rates and hospitalization data. Several user-friendly tabs allow people see COVID-19’s effect on different age groups, over specific time periods, by zip code and more. The enhanced dashboard precedes a new Be Well. Be Weld. informational campaign running on the county’s Facebook and Twitter platforms. “Regardless if it is COVID-19, the flu, a cold or any virus, it is important to stress simple ways to reduce the spread of germs and viruses,” said Freeman. The public information campaign aims to remind people of preventative measures with the intent of keeping case counts low. With students going back to school and people going back to the workplace, the timing of the renewed messaging is appropriate. “The statistics right now, particularly our two-week positivity rate of 3.48%, which is down from 3.71% on August 25, and our low hospitalization rate, suggest the personal responsibility our residents are practicing is working,” Freeman said.
