Veterans and their families will soon have more resources to assist them with job placement. The additional help comes from the state’s Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP), which is focused on eliminating barriers to employment. The positions are funded by the Jobs for Veterans State Grant, which the Weld County Board of Commissioners accepted on Wednesday, August 23.

“Helping our veterans find meaningful employment opportunities is critical to bettering their quality of life. More importantly, it’s one of the ways we can truly thank them for their service,” said Weld County Commissioner Chair Mike Freeman. “We’re excited to see how this grant strengthens the job search and opportunities for veterans and their families.”

Aside from eliminating barriers to employment which veterans and their families face, DVOP specialists may also serve other eligible persons who require intensive services, including qualifying spouses of service personnel. Employment Services of Weld County staff are responsible for assessing cases for veterans and their families, and determining if they should be referred to a DVOP.
