“We are doing the work for our voters and our peers,” said Weld County Clerk and Recorder Carly Koppes. “We are working closely with our vendor to level up the security of our ballots.”

The 2023 Coordinated election held in November was the first time ballots were printed on paper stock with new security features that go beyond anything in the industry.

Koppes said she was eager to help pilot the new, more secure ballots that incorporate GHOSTmarkTM technology. The paper stock for ballots includes high resolution images that are only visible under special equipment. Weld County Elections staff were able to be a pilot program for the unique security features.

Koppes said, “We are glad to have a partner who is willing to work with us to push the envelope on heightened security.” She added that, “Election confidence needs to be high because voting is the biggest right and privilege that we have. Along with the other security measures, adding the GHOSTmarkTM takes the security, transparency and integrity of our election to the next level. This was a great success.”

ProVoteSolutions CEO, Noal Phillips said, “Our 20 technology patents in security development and deep experience in elections printing give us the insight to deliver ideal, cutting-edge solutions for elections. We appreciate our partnership with Weld County and that they had the foresight to participate and help us pilot the program.”

Weld County currently has 222,064 active registered voters.
