The Building Trades Advisory Committee has an immediate need for two members: a Weld County homebuilder and a small independent contractor, who have a background in the construction industry or are building trades professionals.

The Building Trades Advisory Committee reviews proposed changes to Chapter 29 (Building Regulations) of the Weld County Code. The committee also reviews complaints related to administration and enforcement of building code regulations and serves as a vital communication link between the county and the construction industry. The committee meets for two hours in April and in October.

The Extension Advisory Council is seeking three residents to serve on the council who have a crop science, livestock, or horticulture background. The council advises the Weld County CSU Extension Office regarding program efforts and budget decisions. Members also plan, implement, and evaluate programming, including 4-H youth development, livestock, horticulture, agriculture, family and consumer sciences, and nutrition education. The council meets bimonthly at noon for one hour.

Other boards and commissions in need of volunteers include the Human Services Advisory Commission, Noxious Weed Management Advisory Board, Weld County Building Code Board of Appeals, Weld Faith Partnership Council, and Workforce Development Board.

“Advisory boards help us provide the best services daily to residents and businesses throughout the county,” Weld County Chair Perry Buck said. “The work volunteers do helps us determine how our services can be of the greatest value to everyone.”

Each advisory board varies in its mission, but they consist of residents who are relied on to provide expertise, knowledge and input to county commissioners and county departments on issues affecting various segments of the community. Board members also suggest ways that government services can be improved or best implemented to reach the most people and have the greatest impact. Additionally, those who serve can expect to grow both personally and professionally from the experience.

Applications are being accepted through Feb. 21, 2025. To learn more about these opportunities and apply, visit www.weld.gov/go/boardopenings.
