Weld County residents will have two opportunities this summer to responsibly dispose of old, unwanted, or broken electronic devices at no cost, thanks to the board of county commissioners, the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment (WCDPHE) and the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program, who are hosting drive-thru e-waste events in Severance and Greeley.

The first event will take place on Saturday, July 26, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Severance High School, located at 1200 Hidden Valley Parkway. The second event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, also from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Island Grove Grandstand Arena East Parking Lot, 501 North 14th Avenue in Greeley.

Reservations are encouraged and can be made online at the HHW website. Last minute drive ups may be accepted if space allows, but residents without reservations may be asked to wait or return at another time if lines are long.

Accepted items include a wide range of electronic devices, such as computer monitors, laptops, televisions, microwaves and much more. The collection services will be provided by IT Refresh, a certified electronics recycler responsible for the secure collection, transportation, destruction and disposal of all items. All materials must fit in a standard residential vehicle and be easily accessible for unloading. No business waste will be accepted, and trailers are not permitted.
