National Health Education Week recognized
Published on October 17, 2025
The Weld County Board of Commissioners read a proclamation declaring Oct. 20 to 24, 2025, as National Health Education Week in recognition of the contributions made by the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment’s (WCDPHE) Community Health Division in improving health outcomes through data-drive education skill building for residents of Weld County.
“In 2024 alone, the Community Health Division reached over 4,100 participants in health education classes, attended more than 80 outreach events, conducted dozens of health screenings, and provided hundreds of referrals to services and programs.” said Interim Division Director Olivia Egen.
The Community Health Division leads the health departments efforts to improve health and well-being in Weld County through education and prevention, empowering individuals to make informed health decisions and live healthier lives. From programs like Heart of Weld and Healthy Plate to youth relationship and tobacco prevention initiatives, the team’s work builds stronger, healthier communities.
The Weld County Commissioners each took time to thank health department staff assembled in the chambers for the reading of the proclamation. “Thank you for what you do. It's invaluable to the citizens of Weld County,” said Commissioner Coordinator Scott James. “I appreciate the work that you do every day.”
National Health Education Week offers an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of every person at WCDPHE and their efforts to provide education, resources, and skills to the community.
