The Weld County Department of Public Works is preparing a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (SAP) to help reduce fatal and severe-injury crashes across the county’s transportation system. The plan will incorporate community and stakeholder input, outline the contributing factors in fatal and serious injury traffic crashes through data-driven analysis, recommend strategies and policies, and provide guidance for implementation.

Community open houses will be held to provide an overview of the initial draft plan and seek public input. Public feedback is welcome from August 12-28, 2025. The community open houses will be held in Firestone and Greeley:

For those who can’t make the open house events, several pop-up events are being held at various locations throughout the county, which can be found on the events section of www.weldsafestreets.com Can’t attend in person? The website also features information about the Safety Action Plan, including data and materials, as well as an engagement map where people can share feedback on areas of the county’s transportation system they’d like to see improved.

“We’ve seen tremendous feedback through our project website and pop-up events, and we’re looking forward to speaking with residents directly at our open houses,” said Curtis Hall. Director of the Weld County Department of Public Works. “Aside from the chance to provide feedback, these events will let people see plans up close, the issues facing Weld County’s roads and provide insight on possible solutions. We hope everyone can attend.”
