Weld County proclaims Child Support Awareness Month in August
Published on August 07, 2025
In recognition of the Weld County Child Support Services (CSS) Division who are dedicated to helping children get the financial assistance they deserve, the Weld County Board of Commissioners proclaimed August as Child Support Awareness Month. This recognition highlights the vital role that CSS plays in supporting financial stability for children and families.
“Our team establishes and enforces assistance to families, providing them the opportunity to receive reliable and consistent child support payments,” said Tami Grant, Department of Human Services Deputy Director. “This helps boost economic stability, reduces the need for public assistance benefits, and supports children within our community.”
Through their ongoing dedication to enhancing family engagement, providing accessible support, offering innovative services, collaborating with local partners, and ensuring compliance of child support payments, $24 million in child support funds were processes by the Family Support Registry in 2024.
Weld County CSS is consistently a top-performer throughout the state and on a federal level, receiving several accolades for their work in 2024, and are well on their way to do so again in 2025.
So far this calendar year (January through May), the CSS team has:
- Distributed over $11 million to families in Weld County
- Established or modified 211 court orders
- Responded to 5,531 client inquiries
- Initiated 577 new cases
- Maintained a caseload of nearly 8,000 cases, supporting over 5,600 children
As of June 2025, Weld County stands as the only large county to meet federal current support collection goals. They also remain the leading county in collection and distribution of child support for families in Colorado.
