Fall Prevention Awareness Week serves as a crucial reminder of the dangers that falls pose, particularly to older adults. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in four Americans aged 65 and older experience a fall annually.
“The Fall Prevention Awareness Week programming, and Weld Aging Well classes, help older adults improve mobility, prevent falls, and remain confident in their ability to stay active and safely at home,” said Gabi Snyder, Weld County AAA Wellness Program Coordinator. “Improving strength and balance isn’t just a fitness goal, it is a key to independence for older adults.”
In recognition of Fall Prevention Awareness Week, the Weld County AAA invites older adults to a week of evidence-based programming (Sept. 23 through Sept. 26) designed to raise awareness and take proactive steps to reduce the risk of falls. These activities are fee for adults 60 and older, although donations are accepted. No registration is required for these events.
