Weld County welcomes new building official

Weld County is pleased to announce the appointment of Caleb Sulzen, CBO, MCP, as the county’s new Chief Building Official.

With more than 20 years of experience in building safety, code enforcement, and inspection services, Sulzen brings extensive knowledge and strong leadership to the role. He holds the Master Code Professional (MCP) and Certified Building Official (CBO) credentials from the International Code Council, which represent the highest level of achievement in the building code profession.

Before joining Weld County, Sulzen served in a variety of positions across the country, including Residential Inspection Supervisor in Fairfax County, Virginia, and building official roles in both public and private sector organizations in Colorado.

“We are excited to welcome Caleb to Weld County,” said David Eisenbraun, Weld County Planning Director. “His depth of experience and forward-thinking approach to building safety will be a tremendous asset as we continue to support responsible growth and development across the region.”

As Weld County’s Chief Building Official, Sulzen will lead the county’s building inspection and permitting operations as well as help ensure compliance with local and national building codes.

“I’m honored to join the Weld County team and look forward to working collaboratively with staff, contractors, and residents to support safe and efficient development,” Sulzen said.
