To continue facilitating improvements in municipalities for activities that benefit low- and moderate-income individuals across Weld County, the Board of Commissioners approved six community improvement projects to be completed in 2026. The projects were recommended by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Committee following its April 1 meeting.

The projects the board approved are:

  • Platteville will receive $272,625 to construct ADA-compliant restroom facility at Riverview Park, improving accessibility at one of the town’s most heavily used public spaces.
  • Firestone was awarded $75,000 to continue its housing rehabilitation program, assisting low- and moderate-income homeowners with essential repairs and safety improvements.
  • Nunn will receive $155,600 to upgrade the senior center and gym with ADA-compliant accessibility improvements, including entrances, pathways, and seating.
  • Ault was awarded $198,775 to improve the Ault Senior Center by upgrading restrooms, entrances, windows, and overall accessibility for older adults in the community.
  • W.H.A.L.E. Respite Center will receive $147,700 to expand respite care services for individuals with developmental disabilities, including evening and weekend programming.
  • Lochbuie was awarded $237,000 to construct ADA-accessible parking, playground improvements, and amenities at a local park to better serve residents and improve community access.

Weld County has received an estimated $1,239,707 in CDBG funding for the 2026 program year. Of that amount, approximately 80% will support project awards, while the remaining funds are allocated for program administration.
