Human Services Department earns state performance award for third year

For the third year in a row, the Weld County Department of Human Services (DHS) has received the C-Stat Distinguished Performance Award from the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS).
The award recognizes counties that provide timely, accurate, and high-quality services to residents.
Counties previously had to meet monthly performance goals at least 75% of the time to earn the award. CDHS recently raised that standard to 80%. Weld County exceeded the new standard in 2025, with an overall score of 85.3%.
“I’m incredibly proud of our Human Services staff,” said Commissioner Perry Buck. “Their consistency, professionalism, and care are clear in these results. Meeting every monthly goal across so many areas is not easy. Weld County continues to set the bar high, and this award is a testament to that.”
Weld County met every monthly goal in nine key service areas, including:
- Timeliness of case initiation
- Timely and accurate processing of new benefit applications
- On-time renewals and recertifications
- Monthly family engagement efforts
“Earning this award for the third year in a row reflects our team's dedication to meeting state standards,” said Jamie Ulrich, DHS Director. “Above all, it reflects their care and commitment to serving families, adults, and children across Weld County.”
During the recognition event, DHS divisions shared their measurable achievements from 2025 and highlighted Weld County’s participation in the Child and Family Services Review (CFSR). The CFSR is a federal review that examines how well states support children and families in areas such as safety, permanency, and well‑being. Preliminary feedback from federal reviewers praised the quality of work happening in Weld County.
