Following a competitive, multi‑stage evaluation process, the Weld County Board of Commissioners unanimously selected Fentress Studios to provide design services for the Weld County Judicial Center project. Fentress Studios was awarded a $378,000 contract for Conceptual Programming and Validation as well as Concept Drawings during this morning’s board meeting.

The initial evaluation committee received six (6) proposals for the Weld County Judicial Center design. The committee evaluated the proposals based on Best Value for the county and shortlisted three consultants to move to the second round of grading criteria for interviews conducted by the board of commissioners.

The commissioners evaluated each of the three consultants based on the published RFP grading criteria, which included: Work Approach; Project Team Qualifications; Quality of Presentation; and Questions and Answers Session. Fentress Studios was selected as the overall best value for this solicitation.

Fentress Studios is a globally recognized design firm founded in 1980, headquartered in Denver, and has extensive experience designing civic buildings, including the Norfolk (VA) courts complex, the Johnson County (KS) courthouse, and the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Justice Center, to name a few. Fentress Studios is part of the Populous Company.

“It was edifying to see the quality of the applications we received,” said Weld County Board Chair Scott James. “It shows that there's great interest in this project. And, it's further edifying to know that the top choice is a local choice, as well.”
