The Weld County Workforce Center (WCWC) in partnership with the City of Greeley welcomed 957 youth and young adult attendees to the Island Grove Event Center on March 11 for the Young Adult Job Fair. The turnout represents one of the highest participation levels the event has seen in recent years, underscoring the growing interest among teens and young adults in building employment experience and connecting with local employment opportunities.
Job seekers had an opportunity to connect with 30 employers representing a variety of sectors, including health care, construction and skilled trades, nonprofit services, education, and the armed forces. Job seekers also benefited from on‑site resources designed to support career readiness, with over 200 free professional headshots provided, over 70 pieces of professional clothing distributed, as well as assistance from skilled workforce staff crafting resumes and applying for jobs on the spot.
“Young people bring creativity, adaptability, and fresh perspective to every workplace,” said Shelby Hatfield, Weld County Youth Employment and Training Navigator. “Having nearly a thousand youth come out shows just how motivated they are to learn, grow, and take charge of their career paths. Their enthusiasm reminds us why we invest so deeply in creating opportunities that help them take those important first steps.”
The diverse lineup of employers showcased the wide range of pathways available to young people in Weld County, offering attendees a clear view of the many opportunities they can pursue. By connecting directly with employers, job seekers were able to better understand which industries they want to pursue for both immediate employment and future career development.
The fair also highlights the growing commitment from local municipalities and employers to create early work opportunities for 14‑ to 24‑year‑olds. Across Weld County, employers continue to expand youth‑friendly positions that allow young people to gain practical experience and develop the foundational skills needed for long‑term career success.
“With so many industries seeking motivated young workers, events like this play an important role in helping youth take their first big step into the workforce,” said Carol Salter, Weld County Workforce Director. “We’re thrilled to see such strong engagement from both employers and our community’s young people.”
The Weld County Workforce Center extends its gratitude to participating employers, community partners, volunteers, and the many youth who attended. For more information about ongoing youth employment programs, www.weldgov.com/go/wcwc.
