Power of nurses being recognized during National Nurses Week
Published on May 06, 2026
The Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment is recognizing the skill, compassion, and public health impact of nurses during National Nurses Week, celebrated each year from May 6 to 12. This year’s recognition highlights the power of nurses and the many ways they support health across Weld County through prevention, education, care coordination, home visits, disease monitoring, and community outreach.
“The power of nurses can be seen in the trusted relationships they build with families, the prevention services they provide, the careful follow-up they offer during treatment, and the confidential, judgment-free care they deliver,” said Public Health Services Director Shaun May. “Their work is often behind the scenes, but it has a direct and lasting impact on the health and well-being of our communities.”
Weld County public health nurses support first-time mothers and families, provide vaccines, help residents access testing and treatment, monitor communicable diseases, answer health questions, and bring services closer to residents who may face barriers to care.
