Weld County Judicial Center moves forward

Published on May 04, 2026

The Weld County Board of Commissioners in the Centennial Hearing Room.

During Monday’s board meeting, Weld County Commissioners unanimously voted to approve an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the City of Greeley, which, upon Greeley’s approval, will be the last piece of the land-swap puzzle that will allow the county and city to move forward on their respective downtown projects.

The 25-page agreement outlines parcels that will be exchanged from each government entity to the other as well as addressing parking, utility relocations, and storm water improvements.

The IGA is slated for a vote by Greeley’s City Council during their May 5, 2026, meeting. If the council approves the IGA, residents will soon see the results as demolition of buildings is set to begin later this month.

In addition to the IGA with Greeley approved today, the commissioners also approved a separate IGA for the installation of a camera on a city building. This camera, along with a camera the county has set up on the Centennial Center, will give viewers a bird’s-eye view of the demolition of buildings as well as the construction of the new Weld County Judicial Center.
