April 11, 2024,  7:30 a.m.

Council Members in Attendance: Rob Thomas, Pam Sommer, Dave Shumpert, Margie Martinez, Nate Taverner, Amber Cecil, Commissioner Lori Saine

DHS Representatives: Kristy DeAnda, John Killen

Council Members Absent: Lyn Tausen, Tim Martinez

Call to Order: 7:38 – Rob Thomas

Opening Prayer: Dave Shumpert

Correction to Agenda: Accept minutes for March, not November

March Minutes: Dave S. motioned to approve minutes, Nate T. seconded; motion carried

Commissioner Update: Lori Saine
 As the life initiative petition is carried, she has had a wonderful opportunity to discuss fostering with various churches and the needs in Weld County.

DHS Update: Kristy DeAndra
• Preview of video for the Foster Breakfast
• County Commissioner Foster month proclamation 5/1/24 @9:00 AM
• Social media campaign to highlight 2 foster families and worker families
• CCB- Milliken town board – voted to become foster friendly yesterday

Foster Breakfast:
• At the Weld Administration Building
• Amber, Kristy and Margie to set up the afternoon before
• Ray Martinez is our keynote speaker
• Commissioner Saine and Tracey Rudd to give a quick speech as well
• RSVP to Kristy one week out
• Nate to verify with Christ Community about breakfast and coffee
• Folder and info for guests on the tables
• Reminder email will be sent out to the council
