Indoor Air Quality

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. Understanding and controlling common pollutants indoors can help reduce your risk of indoor health concerns.

Three basic strategies for improving indoor air are source control, ventilation improvements, and air cleaners. In many cases, source control is the most effective and cost-efficient approach to protecting indoor air quality than increasing ventilation because increasing ventilation can increase energy costs.

The Weld County Air Quality Program does not provide indoor air quality services or regulate indoor air. There are no federal, state, or local laws regulating many indoor air quality concerns, such as mold. However, the EPA and State of Colorado provide resources to help assist in mitigating these concerns, which can be found in the Additional Resources tile below.
