Weld County Comprehensive Plan

Windmill in rural Weld County

Weld County's population grew by over 30% between 2010 and 2020, making it the second fastest growing county in the state by percentage.

With this level of growth, it is important to plan for the future and carefully consider where growth should occur and what it should look like. The Weld County Comprehensive Plan is a roadmap for the future, a community-driven vision that guides how to manage growth, protect natural resources, strengthen the economy, and maintain rural character, while meeting the needs of current and future generations. The comprehensive plan will reflect the voices of residents, landowners, businesses, and stakeholders from across Weld County to provide a holistic long-term vision for the unincorporated area of Weld County. It will guide staff, the Weld County Planning Commission, and the Weld County Board of Commissioners when considering land use applications, county code updates, intergovernmental agreements, and other land-use matters.
