Woodruff named Assessor of the Year by colleagues

The Board of County Commissioners had the honor of recognizing outgoing Weld County Assessor Chris Woodruff, who just last week was named 2018 Assessor of the Year by his colleagues at the state’s Assessors Conference in Colorado Springs.

Woodruff, who is leaving the elected office he held for the past three terms, was praised by his fellow county assessors for:

  • Completing 39 years of public service to the people of Colorado having served in three county assessor’s offices and in the State Division of Property Taxation.
  • Serving as co-chair for the oil and gas committee for the past 8 years and managing the process that resulted in a complete overhaul to the Basic Equipment List (BEL) valuation as well as mediating a resolution for the shallow well BEL dispute with the industry.
  • Participating in the change in legislation for tax increment financing including testifying before the state legislature.
  • Mentoring fellow assessors throughout the state on assessment and appraisal topics and providing his perspective to the Division of Property Taxation on policy issues.

Weld County has been so fortunate to have had you at the helm of the assessor’s office,” said Commissioner Chair Steve Moreno. “There really is no way to adequately put into words how much your professionalism, integrity and dedication have meant to the residents of Weld County.”

During Woodruff’s time at Weld County, the assessed value of the county rose from $4.4 billion to $11.7 billion.
