Bishop Well Incident

This incident is currently now in recovery/investigation phase.

Background: At approximately 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025, Galeton Fire Protection District (GFPD) was made aware of an incident at an oil and gas facility south of Weld County Road 74. The Weld County Office of Emergency Management supported the GFPD in response and recovery of the Bishop Well Incident through participation in the Unified Command. The Weld County Communications and Public Information Department activated the Joint Information Center (JIC) as part of the Unified Command system. Multiple agencies and more than 300 people worked on the response of this event.

On April 14, 2025, Unified Command, which directed emergency response, demobilized (including the Weld County JIC) and now, several state and federal agencies will begin working within their authority on different aspects of recovery and investigation. These agencies will continue to coordinate and provide information to the public.

In an effort to keep residents informed of where to find information from those agencies, Weld County has included agency links and contacts below. Weld County will continue to share updates from these agencies as we are made aware of them.

The goal of this page is to serve as a repository of information for those impacted by the event and the general public. Updates, when available, can also be found on:
