Roads in Weld County's transportation system must be built to safely and efficiently meet today's traffic demand, while also being able to accommodate future traffic demand as well. With the anticipated staring date in the spring or summer of 2027, WCR 54 from WCR 13 to Highway 257 will be expanded from a two-lane paved section to an interim two-lane concrete road. The improved section will also feature 8-foot shoulders — 6 feet paved and 2 feet gravel.
