Tell me more about CodeRED

CodeRED will only be used for emergency situations near your specific address to keep you informed. We may use CodeRED to issue evacuation notices, shelter in place or lockdown orders, severe weather alerts (must opt in) as well as other public safety emergency information.

  • The system is geographically based, alerting only residents in the affected area. You will ONLY be alerted if there is an emergency near your address.
  • Citizens may select how they would like to receive alerts; phone call, text and/or email.
  • Emergency alerts are issued by the Weld County Regional Communications Center (WCRCC).
  • A follow-up message will be issued by the WCRCC to announce an “all-clear.”

  • Weather alerts, which you must opt in for, are passed through the CodeRED system and sent by the National Weather Service.
  • Citizens need to register to receive alerts through their cellphone, text or email. Landlines in Weld County are automatically enrolled into the CodeRED system.
  • Registering for CodeRED is FREE and simple.
  • There is also an app called CodeRED Mobile Alert that you can download for free onto your smartphone for free from iTunes or Google Play. (Additional fees may apply to use all features in the app.)

Community Resources

We have several resources available that communities can share to explain the benefit of CodeRED and how to sign up. Resources include an informational brochure, rack card, bookmark and flyer. To obtain any of these resources, please email pio@weld.gov.
