The Department of Planning and Zoning has the benefit of three independent advisory boards. These entities offer guidance to Weld County in operational matters, and guide policy development in matters of record. The three boards are:
The Board of Adjustment, which conducts hearings and decides appeals from decisions concerning the administration or enforcement of the Weld County Zoning Ordinance. Interprets the location of zoning district boundaries and lot lines with respect to those boundaries.
The Planning Commission, which conducts hearings and advises the County Commissioners regarding land-use planning, zoning administration, and subdivision development within the county. Reviews and makes recommendations on land-use applications and amendments to policies and regulations.
The Utilities Advisory Board, which provides an orderly and efficient planning process for any service or utility using the public thoroughfares and to review all subdivision plats for conformance with established industry standards for the placement of utilities within subdivisions.
